GARGNANO, THE QUEEN OF SAILING

Today Gargnano is a popular sailing centre. From here, every September, is the starting point of the famous “Centomiglia”regatta on Garda Lake.

But aside from sailing, the town, which in the past has been the centre of citrus fruit cultivation on the Garda par excellence, thanks to its climate (on the main road you can still see the old lemon groves), is now chosen by tourists who enjoy places that are a little secluded and healthy considering that it is said to be the least polluted town on Garda Lake. The town consists of 3 urban centres (Villa, Bogliaco and Gargnano)located on the lake in a broad valley, topped by Mount Denervo and framed by a landscape of olive groves, orchards, gardens and old lemon groves, having a supremely aristocratic look. It is the town of origin of one of Italy’s wealthiest families: The FELTRINELLIS. In Gargnano two buildings bear this name: Palazzo Feltrinelli in the centre of Gargnano and Villa Feltrinelli on the lake, which is now a hotel.
